Blue Mahoe Partners is founded by individuals with experience as entrepreneurs and investors. It is the brainchild of David P.A. Mullings.
Mr. Mullings is an entrepreneur, investor, author and speaker. He is a founder and Senior Managing Partner of Blue Mahoe Partners and Chief Money Officer of RunLive, a tech startup in the fitness space currently in our Blue Mahoe Ventures portfolio. Mr. Mullings is also the Brand Evangelist for letsRUMBL, a mobile technology startup in the daily fantasy sports space, also in the portfolio.
He is a seasoned entrepreneur with experience in the finance industry in Jamaica and the USA, most recently serving as Investor Relations Specialist for Left Brain Capital Management, a long-biased hedge fund ranked among the top 10 best performing funds worldwide by Opalesque in September 2017.
He served on the Board of Directors for the Institute of Caribbean Studies in Washington, D.C. and was the Future Leaders Representative for the USA on the Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board, representing Jamaicans under the age of 30 across the USA in meetings with the Prime Minister of Jamaica and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. He was part of the planning team of the first Jamaica Diaspora Future Leaders Conference in Kingston, Jamaica.
Mr. Mullings graduated with an M.B.A. from the University of Miami at the age of 22 with concentrations in Marketing and International Business after taking time off to play soccer with Real Mona F.C. and work in Jamaica. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelors of Science degree at the age of 19.
Mr. Minott is a Founding Partner of Blue Mahoe Partners and also the founder and Managing Director of Minott Dialysis Supply, a medical equipment supplies company focused on dialysis products. He is also a shareholder and a Senior Financial Advisor with Caribbean Assurance Brokers, a multi-line insurance brokerage firm based in Kingston, Jamaica.
Mr. Minott is a seasoned investor in private companies and real estate development, with strong relationships in Jamaica and Barbados. He provides strong oversight and deal flow access to the company. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario.
Mr. McIntosh is a founding team member of the firm and has worked with Mr. Mullings on all his ventures for the last 10 years, assisting with evaluating opportunities, launching ventures and building key relationships in Jamaica where he is based. An avid Warren Buffett enthusiast, he ensures that all investments follow our investment philosophy and is primarily responsible for developing worst-case scenarios so as to help Blue Mahoe Partners minimize downside risk in each deal.
Mr. McIntosh is based in Kingston, Jamaica and focuses on investor relations and special projects.
Richard M. Powell
Mr. Powell’s key strengths are in finance, management and e-business. He has worked on a variety of transactions including: Leveraged Buyouts, sponsor-backed Management Buyouts, Debt Financings, Initial Public Offerings, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Equity & Credit Derivatives. Prior to forming his firm APCP in 2003, Mr. Powell was an Associate in the Emerging Markets Group at Bear Stearns. He has also worked in Corporate Finance at UBS Warburg.
Mr. Powell currently serves on the boards of each APCP portfolio company. He is also a board member of the ACG Orlando chapter and the 1420 Foundation, a non-profit leveraging education to advance sustainable global economic development. Mr. Powell is involved with organizations including the Harvard Club of Central Florida, the Andover Alumni Association, and the Campion High School Alumni Association. He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, and was recently selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader (2009) in recognition of his commitment to positive social change.
Mr. Powell has been recognized as a rising star in global finance, and has spoken at Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan School of Business, and the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. He has been featured in publications including Inc. magazine, the Boston Globe, and the Wall Street Journal. He graduated with an AB in Economics from Harvard University.
Mr. Libertini was Managing Director of Lloyd Jones Capital. In this capacity, he was responsible for all aspects of capital raising and investor relations. Prior to joining Lloyd Jones Capital, he served as director of institutional business development for a real estate private equity firm.
He spent much of his career in Chicago as the senior managing director for Cabrera Capital Markets, the nation’s second largest Hispanic-owned investment bank and brokerage. Robert was a founding member and shareholder of Cabrera as well as a member of the firm’s board of directors. The firm provides investment banking and full-service institutional brokerage services worldwide.
In addition, he was one of the founding shareholders of the firm’s affiliate, Cabrera Capital Partners which provides investment management and advisory services to private and public sector institutions.
Earlier in his career, Robert held financial positions with both Unilever Corporation and Cumberland Farms/Gulf Oil. He also served on the board of directors of a cloud computing start-up that has successfully completed several rounds of financings as it continues its growth.
Robert received both a Master of Science in Finance (MSF) degree and a Bachelor of Science from Boston College. He also holds securities licenses 7, 24, 27, 63, and 65.
Mr. McCarthy is the current President of the Holdun Family Office. Holdun is dedicated to providing discretionary wealth management services to families, foundations, and endowments. Holdun has a proud heritage that can be traced back to Sir Herbert Holt, arguably one of the most successful businessmen in Canadian history. During the height of his power, the Irish industrialist controlled some 300 companies on three continents worth over an estimated $3 billion. As Chairman of the Royal Bank of Canada, he increased their assets fifteen-fold during his 26-year reign.
The Holt/Dunn Family trust was created to continue his legacy. Since 1990, the value of the portfolio has increased thirteen-fold, under the management of Sir Herbert's great-grandson, Stuart Dunn.
Donovan Bailey is a sprinting legend - two-time Olympic Champion, three-time World Champion and two-time World Record holder. In 1996 he achieved the fastest top speed in history at 27.07 mph, only surpassed by Usain Bolt. He still holds the indoor 50m record at 5.56 seconds. He was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame both as an individual and as part of the 1996 Summer Olympics Relay 4x100 team.
Since retirement in 2001, he has worked as a commentator for CBC, CTV and Eurosport, as well as actively investing in real estate and early-stage companies via his own firm. He also serves as a board member and spokesperson of Big Brothers of Canada, and is involved with many charitable organizations. Mr. Bailey is the cousin of David Mullings and has been an advisor for many years.
